หนังสือของ Marilyn Monroe

Death of a Salesman เป็นบทละครเขียนในปี 1949 โดยนักเขียนบทละครชาวอเมริกัน ชื่อ อาเธอร์ มิลเลอร์  (Arthur Miller) ที่แต่งงานกับ มาริลีน ในปี 1956

Sister Carrie (1900) เป็นนิยายประพันธ์โดย ธีโอดอร์ ดรัยเสอร์ (Theodore Dreiser) เกี่ยวกับสาวชนบทที่เข้ามาอยู่ในเมืองใหญ่ เธอเริ่มทำฝันของเธอให้เป็นจริงโดยเป็นเมียน้อยของชายหลายต่อหลายคนที่เธอคิดว่ามีอำนาจและต่อมาภายหลังได้เป็นดาราดัง  นิยายเรื่องนี้ได้รับการยกย่องให้เป็นนิยายเมืองยอดเยี่ยม  

Winesburg, Ohio เป็นชุดเรื่องสั้นที่มีเนื้อเรื่องสัมพันธ์กัน เขียนในปี 1919 โดยนักประพันธ์อเมริกานชื่อ เชอร์วูด แอนเดอร์สัน (Sherwood Anderson๗) เป็นเรื่องราวของชายชื่อ จอร์จ วิลลาร์ด (Gorge Willard) ตั้งแตวัยด็กไปจนเป็นเด็กหนุ่ม ะในที่สุด ต้องจากเมือง Winesburg ไป สไตล์ของงานเขียนดำเนินไปในลักษระที่ความซับซ้อนของชีวิตมีมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ

On the Road เป็นผลงานของ Jack Kerouac เขียนในปี 1951 เนื้อหาส่วนใหญ่เป็นอัตชีวประวัติของ Kerouac เกี่ยวกับ การท่องถนน (roadtrip)ข้ามอเมริกาในยุคกึ่งศตวรรษของ Kerouac กับผองเพื่อนเพื่อน ถือว่าหนังสือเล่มนี้เป็นงานระดับแม่แบบของยุคหลังสงคราม Beat Generation ที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจาก แจ๊ซ กวี และ กัญชา หนังสือเรื่องนี้ได้รับการยกย่องเป็นให้เป็นอันดับที่ 55 ใน 100 นิยายที่ดีที่สุด ของศตวรรษที่ 20
